Derek was born in Boone, NC and attended Watauga High School where his mom taught math and his dad taught drafting. He moved to Raleigh in 1988 to attend North Carolina State University where he graduated with an Engineering degree. He became a professional Engineer in 2001. He spent over 25 years in the commercial and residential sectors working on an array of complex projects. Derek loves to interact with clients to better understand their needs and try to solve their various situations. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and attending their church. He loves to fish, golf, camp, and about anything involved in outdoor activities.
